PANDORA’S BOX is a digital dance laboratory initiated by choreographer Katja Heitmann and Düsseldorf’s Tanzhaus NRW in 2016. During a ten day residential programme, the choreographer, her artistic partner and producer Sander Van der Schaaf and four dancers explored Motion Capture Technology and the computer software PANDORA´S BOX.
The co-operation with Tanzhaus NRW represented the first time Motion Capture Lab, created by LAVAlabs and the University of Düsseldorf, had been used for dance or other artistic purposes.
For PANDORA’S BOX, part of her larger two-year research project, ‘Pandora‘s Dropbox’, Katja Heitmann called on the expertise available at Tanzhaus NRW.
The laboratory remains at Tanzhaus NRW to continue the work analysing content and technology that it began during the festivals ‘Temps d‘image’ and ‘You‘re a cyborg but that‘s OK’.
